Sometimes Dance is Bullshit (2020)

This piece was fueled by the following questions: Is dance pointless, in the face of global health crises, civil unrest, and fascist leaders? Why do we believe that dance can change the world? Why do we (dancers/choreographers) take ourselves so seriously? Why is there so much pretentious bullshit in (dance) academia? Do I want to keep doing this?

Sometimes Dance is Bullshit was presented at A Shedding, a donation-based, socially-distanced evening of live performance created by and for Black, LGBTQIA+, Artists of Color, and allies in the Salt Lake City community.

The lampooning isn’t about the art form, it’s about the people and structures around it! I appreciate the critique.
